The Latin root word of “science” is scire, meaning “to know”. There are many kinds of knowledge, but when people use the word science they usually mean a kind of knowledge that can be discovered and backed up by observations, experiments and facts.

Human endlessly create technologies and we are all part of the never ending innovation. As for the world of today, science for the people enables technologies to play a role and be part of sustainable development.

The 2019’s theme for the Science Month, “Science for the People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development,” underpins the event’s showcase on the latest innovations in technologies, products and research. Sustainable development has been defined in many ways, but the most quoted definition is that it is a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The aim of sustainable development is to balance our economic, environmental and social needs, allowing prosperity for now and future generations.

The need to continuously develop everything is present, and the power to innovate is made possible with the help of various technologies. These creations empower us and our own living. With the help of different innovations, life became less difficult and accessible enough to us humans. Technology is indeed one of the foundations and medium to which we can strengthen and navigate our development, with the right knowledge and usage of these technologies, we prosper.
